Independent Tea Consultant Rebecca Shadburne is about to celebrate her one year anniversary with Tea Queens. We reached out to her to learn more about her tea journey.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BE A TEA CONSULTANT WITH TEA QUEENS?
I became a Tea Queen because I needed more fun and whimsy in my life. I was dealing with a lot of stress and realized that I had lost my childlike passion for life. I started thinking about what things brought me joy and started remembering all the fun that comes from getting all dolled up, having friends over, eating delicious food, and drinking tea. It was then that I remembered the pamphlet for Tea Queens I'd seen at Queen Mary Tea Room, and I knew that it was meant to be. It doesn't hurt that I also get to buy more of my favorite brand of tea at a discount.
HOW DID YOU DEVELOP YOUR LOVE OF TEA?
I've loved tea as long as I can remember and I spent a large portion of my childhood dressing up and having tea parties with my friends and stuffed animals. As an adult, tea has turned into my ultimate comfort drink. It's the first thing I drink in the morning and it helps me calm down and prepare for sleep. Most importantly, it pairs perfectly with a good book.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TEA?
WHAT TIPS CAN YOU SHARE FOR A NEW TEA CONSULTANT?
Try all the varieties of Tea Queens tea you can get your hands on and figure out your favorites, and how you like to brew them, so you can give personalized tips and tricks. Once you know how you like them, take your tea places with you (if you have a day job, consider sharing with your co-workers) and start off sharing about tea with people you are already comfortable with, you can branch out from there. Most importantly, don't be pushy... our tea is the best and it will sell itself.
WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT YET DISCOVERED LOOSE LEAF TEA?
Loose leaf tea is so much easier than it seems and the flavor you get from whole leaf tea, instead of the scraps they put in tea bags, is worth the tiny bit of extra effort!
