10 Types of People Who Show up to a Tea Party
Hosting a tea party is a fun and exciting event! You’ve got teas to select, treats to make, and guests to impress. Every tea party is a unique event with a different cast of characters. We’ve compiled a few of our favorites from over the years. Enjoy!
1. THE PERSON WHO SHOWS UP TWO HOURS LATE
Everyone has that one friend you have to lie to and say the party starts earlier than it does. It doesn’t matter how early you tell her to show up, though, she’s always pulling in 30 minutes late no matter what.
2. THE PERSON WHO NEVER RSVP’D BUT SHOWED UP
For some reason they don’t understand the surprised look on your face when they walk through the door. Good thing you used your largest teapot!
3. THE PERSON WHO IS ALWAYS ASKING QUESTIONS
In rapid fire succession, this guest is asking one question after another. “So this is all the same plant? But how do you get all the different tea types? How exactly do you pronounce rooibos?” You don’t mind, each question is a fantastic opportunity for you to share your passion for tea knowledge.
4. THE PERSON WHO ARRIVES OVERDRESSED
It’s hard to do at a tea party, but not impossible. While we recommend keeping it casual so your family and friends feel more relaxed, it can be fun to get all dressed up. Then again this guest always shows you up, so maybe you’d better rethink your dress code.
5. THE RELUCTANT FRIEND
They didn’t really want to show up but surprisingly they did! They’re definitely going to be a wallflower for the first 30 minutes, but after they have a sip of tea they’ll be joining the group in no time!
6. THE MOM WHO JUST WANTS TO GET AWAY FROM THE KIDS
Some moms just want to get out of the house and have a little fun and adult conversation. It’s been a minute since she’s had some time away from her young ones and she’s soaking it up while she can. Maybe slip her some chamomile… she’ll thank you later.
7. THE EASILY EXCITED ONE
You can hear her laugh a mile away. She’s got enough energy to power a small city and never seems to slow down. She’s the life of the party and it wouldn’t be the same without her. Maybe have some rooibos brewed up for her, though.
8. THE LOYAL ONE WHO SHOWS UP EARLY TO HELP
We all have that one friend or family member that has your back without you even having to ask. They arrive early to help you prepare and they’re the last to leave, helping you clean up.
9. THE ONE THAT SHOWS UP STARVING
While the emphasis is on tea, you can always expect someone will show up ready to devour all the snacks. You can’t blame them though, your cooking is delicious, right? …right??
10. THE NEXT HOST
Tea Parties are meant to be a fun way for friends and family to get together. Often someone in attendance will want to keep the party going! You feel proud. You’re the tea sage, bringing your expertise and fun to any group, anywhere, and always with a smile on your face.
